The house...
OK, here is the model home we looked at. Take note that this is a different elevation, it has Stucco and no front patio. Also, take note, this was Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday November 26th. See the blue skies. It was 40+ degrees that day, but the temperature was dropping. Friday, our first day looking around it was 62 degrees. Right now it's storming there, but in a week it'll warm up and all the snow will melt and it'll be sunny again.
The floorplans for each floor follow.
The main level. Note the wide open spaces all the way through the kitchen/family room and study. And, of course, the FOUR, yes FOUR, car garage! Awesome! Two cars, storage, other stuff on the right, someday maybe a third car, but that back left one is my tool-area. I'll have a place to work on things, finally! YAY!!!!
OK, next up is the upstairs, the sleeping space. Notice the master is away from the laundry room and the kids' (yeah, plural, we're hoping to have another. :-)) rooms. Bedroom 4, will be a spare/guest bedroom, most likely, since it has the smaller closet, etc.
Also, for us it was important to have a loft area for the kids to play in, and to set up a family computer, so they can be watched and helped with their homework, without being in their rooms. Although, I'm assuming the future will consist of a lot of wireless laptops, so they'll be in their rooms anyway, but that's not a discussion for here or now.
Lastly is the basement. Sadly, we will not be getting it finished. The costs just keep escalating with this house choice. And that's just too expensive of an option right now.
We really like the layout, though, and will likely finish it ourselves to match. The bedroom for us will more likely be a media room/theatre, but having a 5th bedroom should help selling, in 2026 or thereabouts...
